1. Introduction

Kampüsportal ("we", "us", "our") operates the Kampüsportal mobile applications (iOS and Android) and the website at kampusportal.com (together, the "Service").

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, whom we share it with, and what rights you have. By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Data controller

The data controller responsible for your personal data under applicable law (including Türkiye's Law on Protection of Personal Data — KVKK, Law No. 6698) is Kampüsportal.

3. Who can use the Service

The Service is intended for verified university students. You must register with a valid .edu.tr email address (or another academic email we explicitly support).

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18.

4. Personal data we collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect the following categories of data:

  • Account data: .edu.tr (or supported academic) email address, verification status, display name, university, department, class year, profile photo, and preferences you provide.
  • User-generated content: posts, comments, messages, marketplace listings, event participation, study-room activity, lost-and-found reports, and other content you submit in app modules.
  • Communications: support requests and emails you send to us; transactional emails (e.g. waitlist confirmation, security, service updates).
  • Technical data: device type, operating system, app version, language, IP address, general log data, crash reports, and identifiers needed for security and fraud prevention.
  • Usage data: pages or screens viewed, features used, session duration, and interaction events (collected via analytics tools described below).
  • Optional data: location (only if you grant permission, e.g. for campus maps, rideshare, or lost items), photos or files you upload, and payment-related data if you use paid features (processed by payment providers).
  • Website waitlist: if you join our pre-launch waitlist on the website, we collect your email address to notify you about the launch.

5. How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • Create and manage your account and verify student status.
  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service and its modules.
  • Enable communication between users within the same campus community where the feature allows it.
  • Send service-related notifications, security alerts, and (with your consent where required) marketing about Kampüsportal.
  • Prevent abuse, fraud, spam, and violations of our Terms of Use.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
  • Analyze aggregated usage to improve performance and user experience.

7. Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

  • Service providers: hosting (e.g. Vercel), email delivery (e.g. Resend), analytics (e.g. Google Analytics), error monitoring, and customer support tools — only as needed to operate the Service.
  • Other users: information you choose to make visible in the app (profile, listings, posts) within your university community according to each module's settings.
  • Payment processors: if you make purchases, they process payment data under their own privacy policies.
  • Apple / Google: when you download the app from App Store or Google Play, their platforms may collect data according to their policies.
  • Legal requirements: courts, regulators, or law enforcement when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of your data.

8. International transfers

Your data may be processed in Türkiye and in other countries where our service providers operate. We take appropriate safeguards (such as contractual clauses) when transferring data outside Türkiye or the EEA, as required by applicable law.

9. Data retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain data by law or for legitimate security purposes.

We implement technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and student-only registration via academic email verification.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Under KVKK and, where applicable, GDPR, you may have the right to:

  • Learn whether we process your data and request access.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion or restriction of processing.
  • Object to certain processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Data portability (where applicable).
  • Lodge a complaint with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK Kurumu) or your local supervisory authority.

12. Cookies and similar technologies (website)

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, analytics (e.g. Google Analytics), and performance (e.g. Vercel Analytics). You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not work if you disable essential cookies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be notified via the app or email where required by law.
